An oasis in the midst of the city
There is a street in the district of Les Corts which not everyone is aware of: Morales street. And it makes sense that it goes unnoticed, as the traffic in the area is concentrated on Carrer Entença, Travessera de les Corts and Av. Josep Tarradellas.
But at the heart of the triangle between these busy streets there is a small haven of peace and quiet, in the form of a street with small houses and green trees on either side.
The street was forgotten for years, but since 2015 it has been almost completely renovated. We put our two cents’ worth by renovating two detached houses that were abandoned after having been occupied by a large materials workshop. After very sadly dispersing a colony of stray cats that had made it their private residence, we removed all the fibre cement from the roof and demolished the interior in its entirety, keeping only the façade—listed from the early twentieth century—and re-building its interior structure from the ground up.
We transferred part of the site to the City of Barcelona, as required by municipal ordinances. The end result is two three-floor houses with gardens, built by AAA, ideal for family living in the heart of Barcelona, a short walk from Diagonal and Francesc Macià, but with the feeling of being in a town where nothing ever happens.
